Physician Assistant in Primary Care

By Andrew Reid - Oct 22, 2020

Family Practice Mentorship Interview:

Bridgette L. PA-C

Bridgette has been a primary care physician assistant for one year.

After graduating, her goal was to work with an underserved population. Her parents are originally from Mexico, and it was her dream to be able to give back to her community.

So, she decided to work in central California, specifically focused on working with migrant workers. For a new graduate, fresh out of school, she didn't realize exactly how difficult the job would be.

It was at that point she decided to join the Medgeeks family practice mentorship. Something she realized early on, was that referrals to specialists weren't as easy as they should have been; she either wasn't able to get her patients to a specialist or the process would take up to one year.

This as you can imagine, meant she had to treat many chronic conditions on her own.

She also realized she didn't have access to colleagues that she could go to for help.

This is where we stepped in to provide:

  • The proper training
  • Clarity regarding the hundreds of up-to-date articles she had to read through
  • Access for 1:1 help
